(The word ‘grammar’ is associated with the word ‘glamour’ – which originally meant ‘enchantment’. And any self-respecting magician should be able to spell a spell correctly. Same word.)
In fact, writing – like any other kind of magic – is a set of learnable techniques. I’m a writer. I use those techniques. I also help other people to use them. I work with subject matter experts and postgraduate academics; with civil servants and local authority officials; with copywriters and speechwriters.
Think of writing as carpentry: not a talent granted to the privileged few, but a craft. And think of what I offer as a toolbox.
