I love writing, both for reading and for speaking and listening to. If AI and large language models are teaching us anything, it’s that the most effective writing is generated by living human beings.
I write books. I also run an ever-expanding blog.
I train business writing, copywriting, report writing and technical writing for specialists. I also train speechwriting and presentation skills, as well as the core principles of grammar and style that underlie all good writing. I’ve trained on every continent except (so far) Australia and Antarctica.
As a consultant, I work with subject matter experts and writers of academic dissertations. I regularly work with early-career scientists. And I work with speechwriters and comms teams – commercial, governmental and non-governmental.
I’ve been doing all this since 1990. Before that, I was an actor. You could say that I’m really interested in how writing performs: how it comes alive in your reader’s mind, and how your writing can present the best possible version of yourself and your ideas.
